iSee : Routes of Least Surveillance
This interesting web application will map a route between two points in Manhattan, avoiding known surveillance cameras. As the map shows, there are a lot of cameras. Click on the icon to the left of the question mark icon for the actual application.
i-SEE
" iSee is a web-based application charting the locations of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance cameras in urban environments. With iSee, users can find routes that avoid these cameras - paths of least surveillance - allowing them to walk around their cities without fear of being "caught on tape" by unregulated security monitors."

2001 Leonid Meteor Shower
In the early morning of Sunday Oct 18, on the east coast of North America, viewers will be treated to a spectacular show of 800 to 4000 meteors per hour. I'll certainly be up bright and early.
Jaw-dropping Leonids
"Observers in North America, Hawaii, Australia and Asian countries along the Pacific Rim will be favored for the best views of the 2001 Leonids. Meteor rates in those places could climb as high as 8000 per hour -- not quite as intense as the 1966 storm, but more than enough to make a sky watcher's jaw drop."
